darul 'izzah - random rant

rumah anak yatim darul 'izzah bandar baru bangi,
2010

i miss them. i seriously do. though i went there only once. i was going through the album of the launching of the library at their orphanage 2 years ago, and it kind of rip my heart when i recall how i excited they were with their new library. they were too engulfed with the books (i believe you can tell from the pictures). i have a baby brother who loves to read too, and i just couldn't thank Him enough that we are considered lucky for we still have our umi ayah and our life are better to be compared to theirs. alhamdulillah, thummalhamdulillah thummalhamdulillah.

i strongly believe it's when you think more about others you'll be happier and contented with your life. to count your never-ending list of blessings. be thankful. lending your help for those who are in need gives spiritual happiness. inshaAllah. if i were to have kids in the future, i would want to raise them up doing voluntary work. as the famous line from laskar pelangi says, "erti hidup pada memberi." i've seen how my umi ayah contribute to the society with what they are capable of. may Allah accept their deeds, inshaAllah. to contribute, it doesn't necessarily have to be in the form of money. your energy, your moral support, you have no idea what impacts would you bring to others' life. i aspire to inspire. one day, biiznillah. Allahumma ameen.

despite of my love towards gadgets, i don't think i'd be any happier than to spend my time doing voluntary work. it's not the ipad or iphone that would make me happy, no. i mean, the true happiness, that is. i'm trying my best to justify between my needs and wants. yes, i do need a smartphone. but i've got to justify whether i really need it for the sake of da'wah and tarbiyah or is it just a plain desire of a normal human being.

this morning i watched Reflections Special Aidiladha by Imam Suhaib Webb on youtube. it's the episode where izyanJ and i went to UIA to watch the shooting.

here are the links:
Reflection Special Aidiladha Part 1
Reflection Special Aidiladha Part 2

Imam Suhaib Webb mentioned that Prophet Ismail 'alaihissalam is a metaphore to the things that are so dear to us. just imagine how Prophet Ibrahim 'alaihissalam, a father, who has been waiting for a child for so long, and once Allah granted him with Prophet Ismail, he's instructed to leave both his wife and his son. he has to be apart from his beloved ones. and after so many years, he's then instructed to slaughter his son, Prophet Ismail, the son who's long awaited, the son who he has been apart for so many years and now he's told to sacrifice him. did he hesitate to conduct Allah's command? were there any doubts within him? surely, there weren't any.

the same goes to us. admit it or not, without us realizing, the dunya, its temptation are so attractive to our hearts. we're too in love with our so-called pop idols, those singers, those celebrities, those tv shows, dramas, movies, concerts, etcetera which i can say couldn't do any benefit to our akhirah. we're too in love to let go. we're in doubt to rip it off from our hearts. we couldn't stop ourselves from watching all those stuffs. we're in doubt to break those haraam relationship we're having with the opposite gender. we find it so hard to let go. why? why is that so? what sacrifices have you made that you think will make you eligible to attain the ticket to His Jannah? shame on us. shame on us.

isn't it time to let go of our jahiliyyah? to live up a new life, a more meaningful life, towards a life that He's pleased of?

once, i was a teenager who tried so hard to keep up with the things around me. i do what other teenagers do.

but i did feel empty.
i might be enjoying myself but there's a hollow inside me.

until He guides me towards tarbiyah.

i can see the people around me nowadays are so into drama series, be it korean or malay. all those lovey dovey and mushy type of dramas.

i'm not saying that you're prohibited from watching any kind of dramas, no. but just don't be enslaved to it. be choosy and picky too. you don't have to watch it just because everyone's watching it. don't be weakened by love stories. love ain't supposed to make you feel weak, feeling all dreamy and all over the moon.

sometimes i do watch tv series whenever i'm home (i hardly watch tv at the campus). but missing any episode is not a big deal. i believe that we've got to communicate more with our heart, with our inner self,
"am i doing the right thing?"
"will Allah be pleased with me?"
"does this do any good to my 'right account'? will this be accounted as good deeds?"

i'm no angel. i'm a mere servant of His. i make mistakes. i do sins. but it's He who conceals all my sins. there's a quote that i truly love,

"don't praise me because i'm on my deen, make du'as for me for the sins you've never seen."

i'm a servant in the endeavor of manifesting the responsible He's put to my shoulder
-as an 'abid and
-a khalifah

this is a random post. writing whatever that comes across my mind. do forgive me if in any way it has offended any of the readers. may Allah grant us strength to become a better Muslim.
